The moment I unboxed my iPhone 14 Pro, I was hit by the stunning finish and the sleek design. Holding it felt like holding a piece of art! My heart raced as I set it up, excited to dive into all its features. But that excitement began to dwindle as soon as I started exploring.
I was particularly let down by how heavy it felt in my pocket compared to my old phone. It’s a premium device, but for someone who used to prefer lighter phones for convenience, I found myself already annoyed about it weighing me down during my daily commute. What’s the point of having all these amazing features if I can’t easily carry it around?
The Super Retina XDR display is nothing short of gorgeous. Watching videos and looking at photos on this screen gave me chills – everything just pops! I even found myself looking at Instagram stories longer than usual just to enjoy the way colors burst with life.
However, the bright effects didn’t do much for me during those sunny days when glare made it difficult to see outside. I felt an overwhelming frustration when trying to read directions while outdoors. A phone this expensive should not have that issue!
As a daily commuter, I rely heavily on my phone's GPS capabilities. That sinking feeling hits hard when you're lost in a unfamiliar area; so imagine my panic when the navigation app suddenly froze mid-route. Last week, I missed my stop yet again because of this annoying glitch!
I can appreciate innovative technology, but if Apple can’t provide reliable GPS functionality in urban spaces where everyone depends on their phones for navigation, then what’s the point? Nothing is more stressful than being late because your phone lets you down right when you need it!
The battery life is generally impressive, lasting throughout most days without needing a charge during my long commutes. However, there were moments when I deeply regretted not bringing a portable charger.
One day I had a super hectic schedule packed with back-to-back meetings, and I watched in horror as my battery percentage dipped below 20% right before lunch. The relief came later in the day when it still managed to keep up through my evening activities without shutting off unexpectedly – but it’s definitely concerning how quickly it drains during heavy usage.
Living in a bustling city means using my phone in crowded areas or narrow subway tunnels often. And oh boy – let me tell you about those frustrating moments when I'm struggling to find a signal underground! There’ve been times when I've been completely cut off from connectivity, leaving me at the mercy of the old-school paper maps!
I did experience some joyful moments too; mostly when emerging from tunnels and instantly regaining full bars again! But why does getting decent service have to feel like winning the lottery? It keeps me tense during busy commutes knowing that dropping signal is always lurking around every corner.
This leads me to usability – oh, how blessed we are with one-handed devices! Initially optimistic that this would be manageable due to gradual improvement over time with each iPhone release... however, boy was I mistaken with this hefty model!
I’ve slipped while trying to hold onto the rail on public transport and ended up nearly dropping this beautiful gadget way too many times. There are just days where multitasking feels impossible due to its size – reaching across my palm becomes an acrobatic maneuver that annoys more than aids!
If you’re considering the iPhone 14 Pro solely as a daily companion for commuting - take heed! This beauty has more pros than cons but those flaws hit hard.
I’m both grateful and torn: delighted whenever things work flawlessly; frustrated beyond words when they don’t. Overall though, it's tough to find passion for another lengthy review of glitches alongside its elegance! If only they could iron out these hurdles - I'd be head over heels! But until then, every morning will bring a sense of hope tempered by skepticism.
